Rev. Lisa Robinson, Pastor
BIOGRAPHY
On March 25, 2007, members of the Church of the Evangel voted to call Rev. Lisa Robinson as our 11th Pastor. She is the first female Pastor in the church's 100 year history. Rev. Lisa accepted the position as Pulpit Supply Minister in January 2005 while Evangel searched for a permanent Pastor.
Lisa Robinson is the youngest of three children born to the late Sandy and Isabel Robinson. She was reared in a God fearing home in Mt. Vernon, NY where she learned of the Christian faith, attending the White Rock Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John O Fowler.
At 21, she accepted the call and began proclaiming the word of God while serving faithfully as a soloist, choir member, usher; Sunday School teacher, youth leader and counselor.
In August, 1995, God used her to plant a new ministry in the heart of Bedford Stuyvesant. She along with Rev. Dr. Ruby M. Wilson began Safe Haven Ministries, Inc.
She serves on the Ordination and Standing Committee of the Metropolitan Association and she is on the Board of Directors of the Prospect Lefferts Gardens Neighborhood Association.
In recognition of her exemplary leadership in the local church and the community, in 2003 the congregation of Safe Haven United Church of Christ under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Ruby M. Wilson established the Rev. Lisa Robinson Resource Center for academic excellence, cultural enrichment, career opportunities and spiritual development.
In accordance with Scriptures to "be proficient, equipped for every good work(2 Timothy 3:16-NRSV), Rev Robinson received her BA from the College of New Rochelle and she received her Master of Divinity degree from New York Theological Seminary. Rev. Robinson is currently enrolled at United Theological Seminary in pursuit of her Doctor of Ministry degree with a graduation date of December 2010.
She has two daughters a 5 year old name "Diamond" a 3 year old named "Jasmin" and a months old son named "Jordan" she resides in Queens, NY with her family. Her favorite scripture is taken from Matthew 6:33: But continually seek first the kingdom and God's righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. (NASB)
